The religious order of the Mercy, founded in Barcelona in 1218, was one of the first to come to Peru. This convent is remarkable, firstly for its massive door made with carved wood, with Renaissance style, and for its squared tower with baroque style and finally, its cupola that dominates the environs. The cloister is also very beautiful, with the fountain and the flowered bushes; it is surrounded by arcades that are interrupted by high columns. The inside of the church, principally made with sculpted cedar wood, counts an important number of priceless treasures: the main one is a monstrance of massive gold, 1.30m high, covered with precious stones (1500 diamonds and 1600 pearls!).
